David Roberts murdered Bronwen Nixon 66 at the Rothay Manor Hotel, Ambleside in January 1986.
He also murdered another old lady, Sarah Ann Hughes, near his home in Valley, Anglesey in March 1969 at the age of 14 for which he served 7 years detention.
During the 1986 murder of Bronwen Nixon David Roberts who was a hotelier had been staying at her hotel but the hotel had been asked to leave. He had been staying at the hotel with his male sexual partner. David Roberts went to her cottage where he stamped on her, stabbed her in the throat and strangled her with her scarf. Her hands had also been tied behind her back and she had a plastic bag over her head. He then stole her valuables and drove away in her car.
During the 1969 murder he had attacked Sarah Hughes in almost the same fashion having entered her bungalow he stabbed her to death, stole her money and then tried to drive off in her car.
